Dong Thap: Strengthening Cooperation with Gangwon (South Korea) in Various Fields

In the morning of April 7th, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee (PPC) Nguyen Thanh Dieu met and worked with a delegation from the Representative Office of Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province in Vietnam and Gangwon State University, led by Mr. Choi Jong Gyun, President of Gangwon State University.

During the meeting, Vice Chairman of the PPC Nguyen Thanh Dieu provided an assessment of the locality's potential, strengths, and socioeconomic development orientation. Dong Thap is now one of the most important agricultural production centers in the Mekong Delta region, with strengths in rice, aquatic products, and fruit trees. The province also has an increasing transportation system, creating favorable conditions for trade and attracting investment.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Dieu underlined that the cooperation relationship between Vietnam and South Korea in general and Dong Thap province and Korean localities in particular is becoming more in-depth and broad. Dong Thap has achieved numerous excellent outcomes through collaboration with Korean partners in areas such as trade, investment, education, and agriculture. He also stated that Dong Thap province will continue to provide favorable conditions for Korean firms, organizations, and partners to explore and invest in the province in the future.

Mr. Choi Jong Gyun, representing the delegation, expressed admiration for Dong Thap province's economic potential, particularly in high-tech agriculture, as well as its plentiful people resources. He claimed that the purpose of this tour was to enhance community links and expand collaboration between schools, businesses, and the government in the areas of training, research, and development.

The two sides exchanged ideas and addressed education, developing high-quality human resources, and expanding cooperation in sectors such as personnel, labor, tourism and so on

Following the courtesy visit, the delegation met with the Department of Education and Training and other relevant departments and agencies to establish a long-term cooperative relationship in which students from Dong Thap province will study and conduct research in South Korea. Aside from education, Dong Thap province seeks to enhance collaboration in the domains of human resources, labor, tourism, and, particularly, science and technology, with the goal of increasing human resource quality and supporting long-term development.
