On January 25, 2024, Mr. Le Vinh Tan, former Minister of Home Affairs and former Secretary of the Dong Thap Provincial Party Committee, and Mr. Huynh Minh Tuan, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, attended the ceremony to receive the National Intangible Cultural Heritage of the traditional craft "Lai Vung Fermented Pork Roll".

Huynh Minh Tuan, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee,
presented the Certificate of Lai Vung Fermented Pork Roll Craft being listed
on the National Intangible Cultural Heritage List to the leaders of Lai Vung District.
Ms. Huynh Thi Hoai Thu, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, delivered flowers
to the production facilities that are authorized to utilize the Lai Vung Fermented Pork Roll brand.

Since the 1960s, in the communes of Tan Thanh, Long Hau, and Lai Vung town, a man named Nguyen Thi Man (Tu Man) has worked as a local party server and produced fermented pork roll using accessible ingredients. It has sour, spicy, salty, and sweet characteristics and is covered in leaves (or gooseberry leaves), giving it a distinct flavor for Lai Vung’s fermented pork roll. Along with many historical ups and downs, the Lai Vung pork roll profession has consistently improved, evolved, conquered consumers, and expanded into the market. To present, 11 fermented pork roll facilities have been certified to utilize the Lai Vung’s brand.

Huynh Minh Tuan, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, stated that this announcement event allowed us to honor history with long-term value and vitality. He recognized, appreciated, and praised the efforts of the Party Committee, authorities, and households working to preserve and promote the traditional qualities of fermented roll craft communities. At the same time, he emphasized the need of preserving and promoting history in order to support socioeconomic development in the coming years.

On this occasion, the Lai Vung district hosted the opening ceremony of the "Agricultural Products Festival" with the theme "Lai Vung Agricultural Products: Happiness for Every Family". The event intends to provide opportunities for cooperatives, cooperative organizations, clubhouses, and producers to introduce, promote, and consume agricultural products. This is also an opportunity for people to communicate and share their experiences with production, business, and product consumption.

Dong Thap now has around 100 heritages, including folk performing arts, social norms, folk knowledge, traditional festivals, and traditional crafts. One heritage is on the World Cultural Heritage List (The Art of Don Ca Tai Tu), five are on the National Intangible Cultural Heritage List (Dong Thap Chanty, Long Hau Boat Making Craft, Dinh Yen mat weaving craft, Long Khanh A shawl weaving craft, and Lai Vung fermented pork roll craft), and 29 are on the Intangible Cultural Heritage Inventory List.
