Chairman of Provincial People's Committee welcomed Japanese delegation

On the afternoon of March 7, at My Tho Town Secondary School, Cao Lanh District, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Pham Thien Nghia had a meeting with Ms. Akie Abe - wife of the late former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, President of FESCO with members of the Japanese delegation to visit Dong Thap.

Speaking at the reception, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Pham Thien Nghia emphasized that in 2023, Dong Thap province plans to organize many activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan in which, increasing organizing cultural exchange, promoting trade, asking for investment and so on. In addition, the province continues to promote the program of sending workers to work in Japan, developing processed products for export to the Japanese market etc.

Participating in the project "Growing organic vegetables in schools" has helped students realize the value of labor, gradually change their thinking, awareness and propagate to their families and people around about the benefits of labor. The benefits of organic vegetable production, saying no to those which are harmful to health and the environment.

Ms. Akie Abe expressed her impression of coming to Dong Thap, and highly appreciated the project "Developing organic agriculture" sponsored by Seed to Table, suggesting to continue developing and replicating this meaningful model. The President of FESCO also said that she will continue to connect and call for Japanese organizations and foundations to pay attention and support the locality in the coming time.

The project "Developing organic agriculture" has been implemented by Seed to Table Organization in collaboration with Dong Thap Rural Water and Agricultural Service Center from 2019 to present, in 20 schools in Cao Lanh city, Hong Ngu city and districts: Cao Lanh, Tan Hong, Hong Ngu, Tam Nong, Thanh Binh, Lap Vo, Lai Vung, Thap Muoi and 07 groups of organic vegetable farmers with an area of ​​about 28,000m2.

In Cao Lanh district, the project was implemented at My Tho town secondary school, built an organic vegetable production group with more than 45 students participating, built a vegetable garden "Green - Clean - Safe" with an area of ​​400m2.

Students participating in the project were trained to equip themselves with knowledge of organic agriculture as well as the basic principles of organic vegetable production according to Vietnam PGS standards, how to improve soil, compost, how to make organic fertilizer, to make nutrient liquid mixture and herb solution for use in vegetable garden etc.
