Dong Thap Province Will Organize Sa Dec Flower Festival
In the afternoon of February 2nd 2023, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee – Mr. Le Quoc Phong, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province – Mr. Le Thanh Cong, Deputy Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee – Mr. Huynh Minh Tuan and leaders of Sa Dec city came to visit Tan Quy Dong Ornamental Flower Cooperative, Sa Dec Flower Village Club and listened on the production and consumption of flowers and ornamental plants during the Lunar New Year.

In 2022, although the production and consumption of flowers and ornamental plants still faced some difficulties, the Cooperative achieved its requirements in terms of sales and profits. The Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee suggested that Sa Dec city had an assessment of the ornamental flower industry, continue to support people to reach market information, forecasts, planting techniques, etc.
Sa Dec flower field is a traditional industry and has its brand and reputation. Therefore, it is necessary to pay attention to this industry. In which, related units and the local should effectively implement the plan to develop the flower and ornamental industry; pay attention to choose good seeds, suitable soil, product diversity, especially unique, strange and compact products.
The Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee said that to promote more about Sa Dec flowers, the province will study and organize the Sa Dec Flower Festival, which will become a regular activity. The flower festival will promote the pride of people in the flower village, expand the consumption market, and take the flower image further to have more opportunities for Sa Dec flowers.
The Cooperative continues to innovate its operation, becoming a typical unit of the province. At the same time, the Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee wished Sa Dec Flower Village Cooperative and the club a successful year.

The area of ornamental flowers in 2022 of Sa Dec city is 946 hectares, reaching 121.53% of the plan, an increase of 222.8 hectares compared to 2021, because of the conversion of rice land and some renovation of mixed gardens. Currently, farmers are focusing on tending and producing mainly big trees for constructions and decoration. On the occasion of the Lunar New Year, farmers planted ornamental flowers about 100 hectares, concentrated in Tan Khanh Dong and Tan Qui Tay communes, An Hoa and Tan Quy Dong wards; increased by about 50% over the same period in 2021. The price of flowers this year did not increase much compared to the Lunar New Year in 2022. |
